Consultation on Proposed Move of Launceston Pre-School Provision to Windmill Hill Academy

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are writing to inform you of a proposed change to the location of our pre-school provision and to invite your feedback as part of our consultation process.

We are considering moving the pre-school children and staff from the current building on St Thomas’s Hill to Windmill Hill Academy, where they would share facilities with the existing 17 children already attending reception.

Why We Are Proposing This Change

  • Financial Sustainability: The current building is no longer financially viable due to high overhead costs. Moving to Windmill Hill Academy would significantly reduce these costs.
  • Improved Educational Continuity: Sharing a site with a primary school would allow for greater consistency in teaching and learning, and smoother transitions for children as they progress.
  • Access to Enhanced Facilities: Opportunities to access a wider range of resources and provision.
  • Staffing Benefits: In the event of staff absence, cover can be provided by familiar staff from the school, rather than relying on external supply agencies.
  • Children will be able to access wraparound care (breakfast and after-school clubs) and lunch facilities.

We believe this move would offer a more enriching and stable environment for our children and staff, while also ensuring the long-term sustainability of our pre-school provision.
